Cassandra "Cassie" Rose - I am a 2009 UWRF Graduate with a major in Equine Science. My experiences at school ranges from advanced horsemanship techniques/ colt starting and horse judging to equine reproduction. I have been training horses for over ten years. I have been training professionally for three years. I also have a strong background in barrel racing.
The Training that I provide my clients and their horses is unique and constantly changing with each new horse and rider. I like to start the horse off in the right direction and then work with the rider to tune them in together. My methods are never cruel or controversial, but often firm enough for precise effectiveness. The methods make sense to the horse because they stem from the animals own body language and natural herd instinct. I follow horsemanship sense from Ray Hunt, Monty Roberts, Tom Dorrance, Larry Whitesell, Stacy Westfall, Sherry Cervi and many others. I try to learn something from every horseman I meet.
I teach the horse not only by getting the body to do what is desired but by training the mind to relax and learn by Operant conditioning. Each behavior is reinforced, punished or extinguished. With long term reinforcement the horse has a learned behavior that lasts much longer than other methods using artificial training aids. In the end the horse receives a strong foundation upon which horse and rider can rely when further developing his talents.
I enjoy thoroughly working through all the horse's “issues” or “problems” that make him a less-than-perfect horse. I want to make your horse into the “perfect” horse. From there I can enlighten you to make you the better rider and in the long run allow you to enjoy your horse far more than you could have realized before you sent them in for a “little” training.
